Participants: 8 per class
We have a number of online Spanish classes being held throughout the week at different levels. This is a 10 week course and each class is 1 hour. When these classes are finished we will arrange new dates so you can advance to the next level and continue working on your Spanish language skills. We have space available in all classes so if you’d like to join please email training@becs.org.uk confirming which class(es) you’d like to sign up for.

Spanish Level 0 – A1.1 – Every Monday starting 5th February, 10:00-11:00 – FULLY BOOKED
- Communication resources: Introduce yourself, talk about habits and difficulties, the duration, make recommendations, describe feelings, ask and answer about motivations, give and ask for personal information, greets and say goodbye and resources to ask about the words.
- Grammar Resources: the regular and irregular present tense, introduction to reflexive verbs, costar y sentirse(to cost and to feel), para / porque, desde / desde hace / hace…que (from, since, ago) , the gender (masculine and femenine).
- Lexical Resources: activities to learn languages, professions. The alphabet. The numbers, nacionalities and feelings: safe, insecure, ridiculous, frustrated, good, bad…
Spanish Level 1 – A1.2 – Every Monday starting 5th February, 13:30-14:30
- Communication resources: relate and connect past events, talk about the beginning and duration of an action.
- Grammar Resources: simple past form and uses, empezar a + infinitivo(begin + infinitive), ir / irse, temporary markers for the past, prepositions: desde, durante y hasta (from, during and until).
- Lexical Resources:cinema and biographies.
Spanish Level 2 – A2.1 – Every Tuesday starting 6th February, 11:00-12:00
- Communication resources:physically identify and describe people, talk about relationships and similarities between people.
- Grammar Resources: Present irregular c > zc, demonstratives (este/-a/-os/-as, ese/-a/-os/-as, aquel / aquella / aquellos / aquellas), el / la / los / las + de + sustantivo(noum), el / la / los / las + que + verbo (verb).
- Lexical Resources:articles of clothing, physical description adjectives, relationships, the verbs: ser, tener y llevar(to be, to have and to take), parecerse y llevarse (look like, be in).
Spanish Level 3 – A2.2 – Every Thursday starting 8th February, 10:00-11:00
- Communication resources: express likes and preferences, describe a house, compare, express coincidence, locate objects in space and describe objects.
- Grammar Resources: Comparatives, prepositions, possessive pronouns (el mío / la mía, el tuyo / la tuya, el suyo / la suya) uses of the verbs ser and estar, verbs: gustar, encantar y preferir (to like, to love, to prefer).
- Lexical Resources:types of home, parts of a home, adjectives to describe a home, shapes, styles and materials.
Spanish Level 4 – B1.1 – Every Thursday starting 8th February, 11:00-12:00
- Communication resources: Getting on with specific situations such as invitations, presentations, greetings, farewells. Ask for things, actions and favors. Ask and grant permission. Make excuses and justify.
- Grammar Resources: the gerund (regular and irregular forms), estar + gerund, conditional.
- Lexical Resources:greetings and farewells, courtesy verbs: poder, importar, ayudar, poner, dar, dejar y prestar (can, to matter, to help, to put, to give, to leave and to lend).
Spanish Conversation – Every Friday starting 9th February, 10:00-11:00
- Section – Materia prima: This section presents the structures or vocabulary that will be mainly used: structures for the expression of likes, opinions, colloquial verbs to express feelings, etc. This section will be present in all sessions. (En esta sección se presentan las estructuras o el vocabulario del que se hará principalmente uso: estructuras para la expresión de gustos, opiniones, verbos coloquiales para expresar sentimientos, etc. Esta sección, estará presente en todas las sesiones)
- Section – Si no lo leo, no lo creo: Section composed of short texts of different characteristics, registers and origins in relation to the topic and objectives of the session, to become familiar with a certain vocabulary, propose ideas, show different points of view and in some way mark a starting point for the conversation. It can be small articles published in newspapers or magazines, opinion columns, advertisements, brochures, participation in forums, etc. (Sección compuesta por textos breves de distintas características, registros y procedencias en relación con el tema y los objetivos de la sesión, para familiarizarse con un cierto vocabulario, proponer ideas, mostrar distintos puntos de vista y marcar de alguna manera un punto de partida para la conversación. Puede tratarse de pequeños artículos publicados en periódicos o revistas, columnas de opinión, anuncios, folletos, participaciones en foros, etc).
- Section – Lo han dicho en la tele:a section of great importance, since it is based on the understanding of different oral texts, a basic element in conversation. This includes interviews, comedic monologues, very short news or reports, etc., with special emphasis on techniques and strategies for listening comprehension and selecting relevant content. (Una sección de gran importancia, ya que se basa en la comprensión de diferentes textos orales, elemento básico en la conversación. Aquí se incluyen entrevistas, monólogos cómicos, noticias o reportajes muy breves, etc., y se hace especial hincapié en técnicas y estrategias para la comprensión auditiva y la selección de los contenidos relevantes).
- Section – Terapia de grupo: This section is very varied, but it basically focuses on interaction: reaching an agreement on a topic, making group lists, contrasting opinions, making and developing hypotheses, etc., in relation to what is presented in the other sections. The most important thing about this section is for the student to see that it is not just about “talking” but about negotiating, interacting, seeking consensus, adding information, etc., always collaborating with the other interlocutors, as expected in a real conversation. (Esta sección es muy variada, pero básicamente se centra en la interacción: llegar a un acuerdo sobre un tema, elaborar listas en grupo, contrastar opiniones, hacer y desarrollar hipótesis, etc., en relación con lo presentado en las otras secciones. Lo más importante de esta sección es que el estudiante vea que no se trata solo de «hablar» sino de negociar, interactuar, buscar el consenso, añadir información, etc., siempre colaborando con los demás interlocutores, tal y como se espera en una verdadera conversación).
- Section – ¿Y ahora yo qué digo? focused on the observation and use of language in context. Also very varied section that can include examples of real situations and guidelines on how to behave in certain contexts, places or situations, socio-cultural content, etc. (Centrada en la observación y el uso de la lengua en su contexto. Sección también muy variada que puede incluir ejemplos de situaciones reales y orientaciones sobre cómo comportarse en determinados contextos, lugares o situaciones, contenidos socio-culturales, etc).
- Section – Jugando se entiende la gente: Playful and always oral practice adapted to each session: “taboo” games to develop strategies that allow us to define a concept or find a way to define something without knowing the exact word; movie game, etc. (Práctica lúdica y siempre oral adaptada a cada sesión: juegos «tipo tabú» para desarrollar estrategias que nos permitan definir un concepto o buscar la forma de definir algo sin conocer la palabra exacta; juego de las películas, etc).
